The hot summer temps are here and they will probably be sticking around for awhile! If you can stand the heat, the fishing at McMurtry has been pretty good the past two weeks! The lake is still about a foot below normal elevation, in the mid 70's, and semi-murky from the rain we got last week. Saugeye have been good on minnows and crankbaits at 6 - 12 ft around docks and the sandbars. White bass have been fair on crankbaits at 4 - 6 ft along the rocky shore, sandbars, and the main lake.
In the past few days, channel catfish have been picking up and one visitor caught a 4 lb catfish that already had 3 hooks in its mouth! She said he was definitely a fighter and a fun catch!
