Primitive Campsites

How does it work?

Each campground is secured behind a locked gate. Once you call to make a reservation staff will give you the gate code. Call 405-747-8085 Mon - Fri 8am-4pm.
Upon arrival you will need to drive into the main west side park to check in and retrieve your vehicle permits. All vehicles will need park permits; each camping reservation comes with 1 permit (2 vehicle limit).

These campgrounds are suitable for tent camping, hammock camping, but not R.V.'s.
You can drive down to these sites, or you may hike into them.
- Catfish Cove & Whitetail Trail = Blue Trail
- Critters Campground & Blackjack Bay = Orange Trail

All primitive campsites are located on the west side of Lake McMurtry. Use the west recreation area map, zoom out and look for the orange flags *MAP

* These are primitive campsite with minimal amenities, please be prepared to bring enough supplies to sustain yourself. Restrooms/showers are located 1/2 mile away at the west baitshop *

Please exercise Leave No Trace practices - Pack it in, pack it out!

Primitive sites can only be rented via phone reservation Monday - Friday.
To keep guests safe, primitive sites will not be rented during wet weather.
Gates must remain locked at all times.

**We only accept payment by credit card for the gated campsites. Your card will be kept on file through your reservation in case of damages to the site and may be charged a $100 clean-up fee if there is trash left behind.
