Ride to Thrive is an after-school bike program for middle school youth that begins in September and finishes in early May. Students who complete the program earn a bicycle, helmet, and everything needed for safe cycling. They are recommended for the program by their teachers. Led by adult volunteers, students meet weekly to participate in group rides, learn safe cycling skills, and basic bike repair and maintenance. Ride to Thrive introduces kids to the importance of physical activity and healthy lifestyles. It develops an understanding and appreciation of our natural world and teaches the importance of environmental stewardship. Group riding helps build confidence, resulting in better school performance, better focus, and healthier relationships.
