CAMP VISION

Outdoor Adventure.
Active play in outdoor spaces provides rich opportunities for young people to develop social skills and gain appreciation for nature.  Many life-changing experiences at summer camp come from trying new things, meeting new friends, and solving problems together.

STEM in Nature.
Nature explorations provide authentic and engaging experiences for learning about science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).  Lake McMurtry Natural Resource and Recreation Area provides an ideal landscape to learn about wildlife and aquatic conservation in Oklahoma.

Ethic of Care.
An ethic of care promotes respect for self, others, and natural world and its inhabitants. Outdoor Adventure Camp is an inclusive community with counselors who model respect for people of various sizes, abilities, ethnicities, and ages.

Health and Safety
Spending time outdoors is good for the physical and emotional health.  The safety of every camper is our priority.

Some say natural is the new normal – but at Sprouts, there’s nothing new about natural foods! Back in 2002, we opened our first store in an effort to make natural foods available to everyone. Up until then, grocers offering fresh, organic choices were either too expensive to shop or too hard to find. We wanted to be different! No more weaving through a maze of narrow aisles without anyone offering to help. No more ingredient lists featuring 40 unpronounceable chemicals. And most of all, no more spending an entire paycheck for food from the honest effort of a farmer – not a factory.

The Department of Natural Resource Ecology and Management (NREM) provides instruction, research, and Extension expertise that focuses on the natural resources of fisheries, forests, rangeland, and wildlife within and beyond the boundaries of Oklahoma.

Our overall NREM MISSION is to increase public awareness and understanding, through teaching, research and Extension, of the ecology, management and sustainable use of these natural resources that are important for maintaining ecosystem health, species diversity, agriculture and forest production, hunting and fishing, and the enjoyment of experiencing nature.

Oklahoma’s Blue Thumb is a statewide citizen science program that trains volunteers to monitor creeks and streams and share their knowledge of water quality with others. The goal of Blue Thumb is to empower people to protect water in their region from nonpoint source pollution.

Over 75 Oklahoma streams are being monitored by Blue Thumb volunteers - citizens like you! The goal of Blue Thumb is to provide stream protection through education. We accomplish this by empowering citizens across the state to monitor a local stream and teaching them how to educate others about Oklahoma's water resources.
