We are excited that you are choosing to enjoy Lake McMurtry and we want you to be aware of our rules and regulations so that you can have the best time during your visit.
Permits are required for all vehicles and activities within the park.
Alcoholic beverages are prohibited on all Lake McMurtry property.
Daily permits expire at 10:00 pm.
Quiet hours are from 10:00 pm to 7:00 am. Generators are generally not permitted, please check with park staff for more information.
The discharging of firearms, BB guns, paintball guns, bow and arrows, sling shots or any devices that use burning powder, explosives, compressed gasses, etc. is prohibited.
Pets must be kept on leashes no longer than 10 feet and under control at all times.
Fireworks and bonfires are prohibited.
Confetti is prohibited.
Removal of plants, animals, rocks, artifacts or relics is prohibited without written permission from Lake McMurtry Friends, Inc. and/or the City of Stillwater.
The use of ATVs, LSVs, UTVs, and golf carts is prohibited on Lake McMurtry property.
Camping:
Check In 3pm, Check out 1pm - All sites are reservable online 24/7. Reservations are required to camp.
Camping is only allowed in designated areas.
Camping is limited to 14 cumulative days in any 30-day period.
Annual membership free tent camping is limited to 1 site per visit.
Tent site reservations for annual members must be made within a 30-day period of the booking date or the code will show invalid on the website.
Park patrol is conducted regularly so please have permits readily available for park staff to check.
Campsite Capacity Limits:
RV Campsite: 1 RV, 1 tent, 2 vehicles - 1 vehicle permit included per campsite. Tent Campsite: 3 tents, 2 vehicles - 1 vehicle permit included per campsite.
Exceeding campsite capacity limits may result in camper having to acquire another site, paying additional camping fees or eviction from the campground.
All vehicles and trailers must be on paved or graveled surfaces except as otherwise permitted.
Self-contained trailers in tent sites must be at designated graveled sites (West tent 1, 2, 3, 4 and East tent 6 and 7 only) and not exceed 16 feet in length.
Only one electrical user is allowed per electric campsite. Plug-ins shall not exceed receptacles provided at the pedestal.
No personal property may be left unattended for longer than 24 hours.
Campfires are the responsibility of the camper and are restricted to fire rings or grills provided. Burning trash in the fire ring or grill is strictly prohibited.
Cutting, sawing, or harvesting of firewood from trees and other vegetation within the park is strictly prohibited.
Trenching around tents, littering or discharging sewage or gray water on the ground is prohibited.
Quiet hours are from 10:00 p.m. to 7 a.m. Generators may be prohibited during these hours please consult with park staff.
Fishing:
No fishing in designated swim areas Please abide by local and state rules and regulations. Click here for Oklahoma Fishing Regulations
2 pole limit per person.
Fishing by net, seine, gun trap, trot line, jug line, limb line, yo-yo’s, and seine nets are prohibited.
Daily Limits:
Black Bass Limit – 6 daily. Length must be 16 inches minimum.
Walleye/Saugeye Limit – 6 daily. Length must be 14 inches minimum.
Boating:
The following are prohibited: activities that involve towing a person behind a boat, sea-doos, jet skis, or any similar personal motorized watercraft.
Boats of any kind are not allowed in the swim area.
Watercraft must be properly registered by the state of Oklahoma before entering the lake. ( out of state boats are permitted for 30 days, after which must be registered in Oklahoma )
Designated boat ramps are for “launching” only.
Maximum speed is 25 mph. No wake at boat docks and ramps.
Water skiing, jet skis, sea doo’s, water bikes, and any other related water sports are prohibited.
Swimming:
No lifeguard on duty. Swim at own risk.
No swimming around docks, boat ramps or the main body of the lake.
No containers such as glass, tin, etc. are allowed in the swim area.
Fires must be contained in either a designated fire ring or grill.
Mountain Biking and Hiking:
Helmets are recommended when mountain biking.
Slow down and use caution in approaching and overtaking a bicycle or other hikers, make your presence known in advance.
Stay on trails to avoid soft soils, damage to vegetation, and soil erosion.
Do not frighten the wildlife. Give them time to move out of your way.
Do not leave litter - Pack it in, pack it out. If possible, collect litter abandoned by others.
Follow the philosophy of minimal impact with nature. Simply take pictures and leave only footprints.
Stay off of trails after a hard rain or when they are muddy.
