Winter has finally arrived and the arctic front that moved in has made fishing difficult this week. Crappie have been caught on minnows from both the East & West docks over the last several weeks. We are currently out of minnows for the winter season.
Please leave us a comment below if you have anything to share on the fishing status here at Lake McMurtry.

The brave folks that venture out this time of year and weather the colder temperatures were met with some fishing success last week. The Crappie seem to have become more active in the last week or two. One gentleman reported catching eighteen from our east dock using jigs (maxi tails, tubes, etc.) so there were several slabs in his basket. Several 2 pound Large Mouth Bass were caught on minnows and spinner baits near the shore lines and docks. Both reports were recorded between 10:00am - 2:00pm on clear days with a light south wind. The water temp has been hovering around 53º F and semi murky.
* What have you caught recently? Leave a comment below! Elevation below normal, water semi-murky. Crappie slow around docks on minnows at 6-12 ft. Few crappie caught off west and east docks. Fog in the mornings - clearing around 10:30 am.
