Rain, rain, and more rain has helped raise the elevation of Lake McMurtry to 2 feet below normal! The water is murky and in the mid 60's. Crappie are biting slow on jigs, worms, and minnows around docks. All boat ramps, fishing docks, and fishing houses are open and accessible.
Even with all of the rain we have been getting, Lake McMurtry is still around 5 - 6 feet below normal. The water is around 65 degrees and murky to semi-clear in certain areas. Crappie are biting on minnows and jigs at 8 - 15 feet around rocks and brush structures. Largemouth bass are biting on crankbait, plastic baits, and spinnersbaits around 4 - 6 feet around coves, rocks, and shorelines. Saugeye are biting on minnows, jigs, and crankbaits around 12 - 15 feet along channels and creek channels.
