We are always looking for ways to improve the lake ... and this past week was no different! We had a Boy Scout complete his Eagle Scout Project on the East Side. Andy Cox from Troop 828 in Stillwater, OK worked with our Maintenance Supervisor, William Duck, and his troop to create two tent pads for East Tent Site 11. The tent pads will help in many ways including making it easier to stake a tent, providing a more comfortable place to sleep, and to help with erosion at the site. We are very grateful for all of the help that Troop 828 put toward these tent pads and we hope to continue building them for all of our tent sites in the near future. If you are a part of an organization, Boy or Girl Scout troop, or you just want to help out as an individual - please don't hesitate to contact us to discuss the many ways we utilize the community's help to continue making Lake McMurtry the best it can be!
We have been busy out here at the lake! Right after a busy Homecoming weekend, complete with a float in the parade, we have had a renovation underway on the West Side Recreation Area. RV Sites 5 - 12, in Loop 2, received a face lift this week in the form of a few tons of dirt and gravel. They are now completely level so you won't roll out of your bed at night when you're camping here! We have also changed the numbers of these sites, in order to avoid confusion with RV sites 5 and 6 in Loop 1. They are now RV campsites 7 - 14. They still have beautiful views of the lake and come fully equipped with 50 amp electric, water, picnic tables, and fire rings with grills. Leave us a comment and let us know what you think about the update!
