Dear Park Patrons,
Storms across Oklahoma brought heavy rain and flooding across the state with Lake McMurtry being significantly impacted. Lake McMurtry staff have assessed flooding damage due to the storms and have determined the lake is experiencing much higher water levels than normal and is full of floating debris.
With the potential for additional rains over the weekend the lake could see an additional rise in the water levels. Roads into the West Recreation Area are impassable, and the docks are unusable. The lake is currently unsafe for camping, boating, fishing and other outdoor activities. To ensure everyone’s safety, Lake McMurtry will be closed through Memorial Day Weekend. All customers with pavilion rentals and campsite reservations will be notified and receive a full refund.
