Description: Summer Day Camp Counselors will assist with supervising a safe and well-organized child care program by planning and participating in group activities with children. This is a very high energy program requiring positive interaction with the children continually throughout the day.
Positions available up to 29 hours per week, Monday through Friday, for 5 weeks.
Typical day is 8:00am - 1:00pm, Monday - Friday

Starting pay is $8.00 for first year counselors. This position is not eligible for full time
Benefits due to it being a seasonal summer position only.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications: ● Must be 18 years of age ● Must have a High school diploma or GED ● Must have an interest in and like children ● Must be able to work outdoors and load/move equipment ● Must have strong communication skills ● Must be availability May 28th -June 28th (Monday - Friday) ● Must have reliable transportation to get to Lake McMurty
Licenses/Certifications/Registrations: Prior to the first week of camp, counselors must complete:
● Program Safety Course ● American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED Certification ● OSBI Background check ● OSU Minor training (if OSU employee or student)
Preferred Qualifications: ● Prior experience working in camp environment or coaching/teaching children ● Lifeguard certification ● Degree seeking in parks, recreation, leisure, human development, education, science, or art education

Responsibilities: ● Required to Swim at least two times per week ● Establish a positive relationship with each child serving as a role model ● Develop positive relationships with parents, staff and volunteers ● Ensure the safety and well-being of all children. This includes ensuring children apply sunscreen and stay hydrated. ● Know where all group members are at all times. ● Follow and execute activities according to a pre-designed daily lesson plan ● Lead games and activities. ● Actively engage children and participants in activities. ● Take daily attendance and see that each child is signed in and out by a responsible party each day. ● Assist in setting up and breaking down daily activity stations ● Directly oversee 10 campers in any age from 7-12 with a fun and outgoing attitude ● Adhere to camp procedures and emergency plans ● Immediately report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors or abuse relating to youth ● Maintain appearance of camp through cleanliness and set-up. ● Report all injuries and incidents to the Director ● Other duties as assigned
